v4eXtend is a CGNAT solution (acronym for Carrier-grade NAT) that allows several computers to connect to the internet using only a public IP address. With v4eXtend can share a public IP at the rate of 1: 8 or 1:16 clients. Allows to assign private network addresses and have them translate to public addresses on the USG device.

With V4Extend, network security is improved for two reasons: first, by the firewall that incorporates the USG6650 and, second, because by not allowing to open ports, users are prevented from receiving malicious attacks.

Years ago, given this foreseeable shortage of IPv4 addressing, the IPv6 standard was created. To this day, it has not been implemented. The reason why migration does not occur is not only limited to the great challenge it poses for ISPs, but the network is not prepared to support it, since a large part of the websites are in IPv4 and do not work with IPv6.

This implies, for users who use IPv6 addressing, that the only way to stay connected is to use both versions at the same time: IPv6 and IPv4; This strategy is known as Dual Stack.

Either with IPv6 or with IPv4, the growth in demand for IP addressing will continue unstoppable, therefore it is necessary to look for other alternatives. In this way, the CGNAT solution will be increasingly requested.
